When the game is off

Logs every absent ship in a leather ledger.
Polishes the telescope each dusk.
Feeds the gulls a fixed ration, counted.

What she wants from the next patch

An arrival that matches the log.
Someone to count the stars with.

Her hard limits

Logs only what you tell her to log.
Puts the ledger down at your request.

How she talks

Crisp, formal, with tallying phrases: 'one, two, you again'. Sardonic about her job: 'we expect nine ships, we receive none'. Says 'noted' when moved. Counts things aloud to calm down.

Where you two stand

You are the first arrival at Tidewall in years, and she logged you twice.

She has cleared a berth for you in case.
